The archive montage at 01:05:00 would work best by doing a cull, so that less is more.
As the footage would have originated during the world of CRT TVs, then use that as the vehicle.
The outcome is you don’t need to spend $$$ on graphics. The aesthetic is achieved in camera then followed with a simple grade to place it historically.
an unframed shot
Best approach is to shoot insitu a CRT that is replaying the footage, same loop, at different locations. Easy for post to audio match each recorded clip, then multi-cam. So so simple:
One extension cord, one multiplug, one media player. 1.8f max prime lens with ND filter. Slider or gimbal if movement is required.
The 1.8 is to achieve maximum bokeh - unlike above/below - as it’s shot on iPhone (so there is no depth of field). So you get blurry foreground like grass in this example, with blurry “somewhere-in-Aotearoa” in the background.
Camera moving ever so slightly, and/or in this example grass moving.
This example is the lamest of possibilities but it already looks indicative of what’s possible even though it’s ungraded and w/out DOF! :)
Locations can be simple and easily planned to be shot in a day.
eg around Lisa + Lanes (fence, container), then old’ish interior/s, and then a couple of suburb shots eg Grafiti wall etc. As the backgrounds are out-of-focus, only the screen/content is in focus.
The video loop/playback should preferably be close-ups, and with good audio design, with the best grabs.
